    A-Bar Ranch was started in 1978 as a Registered Cattle operation. We were one of the top Brangus herds in the 1980's. The Red River flood of 1990 covered over 90% of the ranch with water and silt. We were pushed to the decision to disperse the registered herd.

    Our direction changed after the flood and we decided to spend more time raising the best quality commercial cattle we possibly could using our natural resources. We built our herd from our own genetics, only purchasing good Charolais bulls to build this herd. Over the years of selecting only the best replacement heifers and matching them to the bull that complimented their genetics have we gotten close to reaching our goal of some of the best Charolais crossed cattle. Our calves continue to do well at auction with our weaning weights getting heavier every year.

     Along with the cattle we have pecan trees growing naturally on the ranch. We harvest them every fall and market what we don't eat!
